What is a UK Fiance Visa?

The UK Fiance Visa is a 6-month visa that allows you to enter the UK to marry a British citizen or settled person. After marriage, you can switch to a spouse visa to continue living together in the UK.

For Engaged Couples

Designed for those planning to marry a UK citizen or person with settled status in the UK.

6 Month Duration

Your visa is valid for 6 months. You must marry within this period and then switch to a spouse visa.

Path to Settlement

After marriage and switching to spouse visa, you're on the path to settlement (ILR) after 5 years.

Important: Marriage Within 6 Months

The fiance visa allows you 6 months to enter the UK and marry your partner. You cannot work or study during this period. After marriage, you must switch to a spouse visa (which can be done from within the UK) to gain full work and study rights for 30 months. Extensions to the 6-month period are rarely granted except in exceptional circumstances.
