The Intra-Company Transfer (ICT) visa was replaced by the Global Business Mobility – Senior or Specialist Worker route on April 11, 2022. If you currently hold an ICT visa, you can extend under the new rules. New applicants should apply under the Global Business Mobility route.
What is the Intra-Company Transfer / Global Business Mobility Visa?
This visa route allows multinational companies to transfer senior managers, specialist employees, and graduate trainees from overseas branches to their UK operations. Perfect for corporate relocations within the same organization.
For Multinational Companies
Transfer employees within your global organization to your UK branch, subsidiary, or affiliated company.
Up to 5-9 Years Stay
Stay for 5 years in any 6-year period (standard), or 9 years in 10 years (high earners £73,900+).
No Cooling-Off Period
The 12-month cooling-off period has been abolished. Return immediately if you meet requirements.
Bring Your Family
Partner and children under 18 can join you with full work and study rights. No restrictions on dependents.
Work Flexibility
Work up to 20 hours/week in second job (same field), study, volunteer, and travel freely in/out of UK.

Employee Requirements
- At least 18 years old
- Worked for employer (or linked company) outside UK for 12+ months
- Transferring to same company's UK branch (or subsidiary/affiliate)

- Certificate of Sponsorship from UK employer
- Meet minimum salary threshold (£42,400 for senior/specialist)
12-Month Waiver for High Earners
If you'll earn £73,900 or more per year, the 12-month work experience requirement is waived. You can transfer immediately after joining the company abroad.

Lower Than Skilled Worker
The £42,400 threshold is lower than the Skilled Worker visa requirement (£38,700 rising threshold), and there's no Resident Labour Market Test, making corporate transfers more straightforward.
Company Requirements
Your UK employer must hold a valid sponsor licence for the Global Business Mobility route and meet specific corporate structure requirements.
Requirements:
- Valid Home Office sponsor licence (Global Business Mobility)
- Part of multinational organization with overseas operations
- UK entity is branch, subsidiary, or affiliate of overseas company
- Issue Certificate of Sponsorship with correct details
- Pay Immigration Skills Charge (£1,000/year large, £364/year small)
Sponsor Licence Required
Companies need a specific Global Business Mobility sponsor licence (different from Skilled Worker). We can help your company obtain the correct licence type.

No English Test!
