Why No Renewal is Needed
Since April 2017, UK sponsor licences have been indefinite. There is no expiry date, no annual renewal process, and no renewal fee. Your licence remains valid as long as you maintain compliance with your sponsor duties.

What You DO Need to Do (Not Renewal)
Maintain Compliance
Report changes within 10 days, keep records, maintain HR systems.
Update Key Personnel
Update via SMS within 20 days if Key Personnel change (no fee).
Pay Per-Worker Costs
Certificate of Sponsorship (£239) and Immigration Skills Charge per worker.
Allow Compliance Visits
Home Office may conduct random audits - cooperate fully.
How You Can Lose Your Indefinite Licence
While your licence doesn't expire, you can lose it through non-compliance or voluntary surrender.
Revocation (Home Office Cancels)
The Home Office can revoke your licence for serious or repeated compliance breaches.
- Serious compliance failures (illegal working, not reporting changes)
- Fraud or misrepresentation in applications or reports
- No longer a genuine trading business in the UK
- Repeated reporting failures or non-cooperation with Home Office
Suspension (Warning Stage)
Before revocation, your licence may be suspended. You cannot assign new CoS until resolved.
- Failure to report required changes within 10 working days
- Inadequate record-keeping or HR systems
- Workers not doing stated job or paid incorrect salary
- Not responding to Home Office requests or compliance visits
Voluntary Surrender
You can voluntarily surrender your licence if you no longer need it.
- Business closing or no longer trading
- Decided to stop sponsoring international workers
- Voluntary surrender via SMS system (no penalty)
- Would need new application if want to sponsor again later
