The "Sportsperson Visa" and "International Sportsperson Visa" are the SAME visa route (formerly Tier 2 Sportsperson). Both names refer to the elite athlete/coach visa requiring governing body endorsement. All requirements, benefits, and processes are identical.
Elite Status Requirements
Demonstrate elite-level international status assessed by UK governing body.
Evidence required:
- International caps/appearances for national team
- Major tournament participation (Olympics, World Cups, etc.)
- World rankings in top tiers
- Medals at international competitions
- Professional contracts with top-tier clubs
- Elite coach with international track record
Governing Body Assessment
Each sport's UK governing body (FA, ECB, RFU, etc.) reviews your achievements and confirms you have highest-level international reputation.
Sponsorship & English
Sponsorship:
- Job offer from licensed sponsor (UK club/team/organization)
- Certificate of Sponsorship with governing body endorsement
- Role at appropriate skill level for your sport
English language:
- A1 level in speaking/listening (ONLY for 12+ month visas)
- NO English test for visas under 12 months
- Exempt if from English-speaking country
- Exempt if degree taught in English
No Minimum Salary!
